Inspired by his father and a passion for healthy living, Jerry founded LaBonté Nutrition & Wellness, and became a private chef to help as many as possible eat and prepare healthy, local, natural food. It is Jerry’s mission to show and teach the awesome people of Telluride that eating healthy should taste pretty damn amazing.
CATHY SCHWINDT - THYME IN TELLURIDE
Cathy Schwindt was born in Seattle, Washington with a map in one hand and a knife and fork in the other. Cathy’s project, Thyme in Telluride, produces and delivers delicious food with style, using fresh, locally sourced ingredients — so you spend your time enjoying all the area’s amenities, not shopping and chopping! Thyme in Telluride’s goal in implementing menus that follow dietary restrictions is to give you freedom and make you forget that your diet was ever restricted in the first place.
Elena is the head chef for Alpine Infusions, a Telluride-based edible company that distributes infused products throughout Colorado. She makes custom cakes and caters private events, specializing in sweets and small bites. Her career in the kitchen began after studying sustainable food systems at University of Michigan, where she teamed up with a local butcher to open a small food counter and bakery. From there, she started specializing in pastry, but still loves creating all types of food with eclectic flavors and local ingredients when possible.
Esperanza’s passion for cooking started as a young child growing up in a small village in Mexico. Three years ago she arrived in Telluride and realized there was room for her authentic Mexican food and her signature Margaritas. Esperanza loves food and in her restaurant her motto is; ‘Cook like you are cooking for your family’. During the month of July, if you visit her restaurants and mention ‘The Hispanic Women’s Project’ you will be able to buy a Margarita for a happy hour price!
Trang is a lover of good coffee and food. She spends her time perfecting her latte art and figuring out how to bring delicious Vietnamese-inspired cuisine to the masses.
Angelee Aurillo has been a professional chef for 16 years. With a degree in Culinary Arts from Johnson and Wales as well as speaking conversational Italian, she has been traveling the world studying food, languages and cultures her entire life. She has cooked in France and Italy, having been trained by Michelin star chefs who taught her that quality is most important and to simply prepare food, maintaining its integrity to the fullest. A native New Orleanian, she always brings some of that ‘N’awlins Spice’ into everything she cooks!
Jason has had the privilege to work with chefs from across the country including a couple of Micheline rated chefs and four starred kitchens. Most recently Jason has been responsible for the culinary programs at four diamond resorts and boutique hotels. His food is based on using the best ingredients in simple annd elegant preparations.
